Sugar-free Iced Tea Recipe: Homemade edition

There’s the smell of hot cross buns drifting through the house, little feet racing through the garden, and dad leading the most competitive Easter egg hunt like his life depends on it. The sun is out (hopefully), the cousins are over, and everyone is down for the long weekend – it must be Easter time!

This time of year is all about togetherness, gatherings, big meals and still some great weather which means lots of refreshments. This year, why not treat the family with a homemade iced tea that’s as good as it is guilt-free? If you’re wondering how to make iced tea at home without sugar or honey, this BOS-style recipe has your name on it.

HERE’S HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN SUGAR-FREE BOS ICED TEA:

You’ll need:

  • 4 x Our Organic BOS Rooibos Tea Bags (any of our classic blends will do)
  • 1 Litre of boiling water
  • Loads of ice
  • Optional extras: fresh lemon, mint, berries or a cheeky cinnamon stick

Steps:

  1. Brew like a boss – add the tea bags to a heatproof jug and pour in your boiling water. Let it steep for about 10-15 minutes to bring out the maximum flavour. 
  1. Cool it down – remove the tea bags and let the brew come to room temperature. Then pop it in the fridge until it is cooled. Cold brewing tea like this brings out all the natural goodness of rooibos.
  2. 3. Serve & sparkle! Pour over ice, add your fruity bits and you have got yourself the most delicious, healthy sugar-free iced tea crowd-pleaser!

WANT A TOUCH OF SWEETNESS?

If you’re craving just a little sweetness (without diving into sugar or honey), there are still ways to keep it light. Try a few drops of stevia or xylitol fruit, sugar-free alternatives. Agave syrup or maple syrup work well too – just use them sparingly to keep things balanced. A few muddled strawberries or a slice of ripe peach can also bring a gentle, fruity sweetness without needing to add anything else.
